Dessa (The Illustrated Girl) 8"x10"x2" Acrylic on canvas
I've been a-paintin' and a-plannin' away yesterday and today, which is nice...it made for this pretty girl.
However, I have to admit that today is just one of those "I hate this day" days for me...it's 100 degrees, I'm cranky about a number of small, trivial things, and by the time I returned from my afternoon errands I just wanted to get back into bed and wake up again (on the right side). I'm awful to be around at the moment, so be happy you've got the buffer of the internet to shield you from my crankiness.
Off to figure out the best possible way to pull myself up by the proverbial bootstraps. ;)
xoxo

Its hard to be in a good mood on a hot day. We are around 85 and a little humid here and it made me lazy and cranky!

i have been feeling a bit cranky and out of sorts at times on the super hot/humid days and have been not accomplishing as much as i usually do but, on the cheery side i absolutely adore your paintings.
autumn could not come sooner for me this year.i want to wake up and find sunny crisp days with the leaves beginning to change and the back to school feeling of everything starting afresh

I'm sorry! It's bloody hot here, too - so much so that I've got heatstroke. ugh, I thought vacations were supposed to be relaxing and pleasant! seriously ... BLECH.
tomorrow we flee south, to home and kitty, where it's also quite hot but at least it cools out in the evening. but first, we'll have to go through the Sacramento valley at mid-day.
rgh. yes, I'm quite a bit cranky, too. Here's hoping tomorrow is better

I'm cranky, too. Air conditioning would help.
Love it! :0)

"sewing is believing" is so wonderful.
i live in sf and it rarely gets humid...and im going back to boston , where i grew up & where it's beyond humid, i have no idea how to dress anymore!
meighan · August 15, 2007 at 08:59 PM
I'm sorry you're cranky :( Everyone needs a cranky day once in a while.
I adore this painting!

Oh I love her too!!!!!
Oh, Miss Emily. Boy do I understand your feelings. I don't think I could ever have a nine to five job, due to the breakdown days. I respect people who get up and go to work everyday. Although, being self-employed in two jobs, I find myself working all of time... However, there are those days, when I am so cranky I think people (well Mr. Lovee specifically) feel it, and then get all cranky too. I usually put myself back to bed and cry and scream and then have some bubble gum and watch movies. Those are the days, I could never make it in the real world.

Hmmmmm. Must be catching.

It's been a cranky day for me, too. At least you didn't have to sit in the heat at Joey's wedding on Friday. Fun it was, but hot, hot, hot. We were all sweating through our clothes.
Love the red hair on your new girl.

Oh, this SO reminds me of Amy, a waitress who worked at the Grit when I lived in Athens. Do you know her?

I love this one! Of course, I'm a tattooed girl myself...
MissKoolAid · August 15, 2007 at 11:19 PM
I adore her tattoos.
Sometimes when I feel like you did today, I jump in the shower, get clean and refreshed, and pretend like I just got up and I'm in a brilliant mood.
Sometimes it works, sometimes only Gin and Tonics will help.

Wow!
your prolificness (hang on, is that even a word?) is inspiring.
How DO you get so much done!?
Do you have a team of Black Apple pixies helping after midnight?
Great, great stuff. I especially like "The Quiet Room".

Love it!! Haha, it reminds me of my arm, which is tattooed with a skeleton key as well! It's been a year since I got the line work, must get the funds to fill it in, gah. But beautiful painting! And the heat makes me super cranky too, but I've found that homemade cupcakes usually do the trick. Feel better!
Mae Jane · August 16, 2007 at 12:49 PM
It's hot here too, every day it seems. I'm not used to this hot summer weather, so I'm cranky X 100 lately. I feel your pain!
I love the new girl! Her ink is awesome. I'm in a tattoo mood lately, loving the new series LA Ink. How serendipitous that you painted a painted lady!
Nichole · August 16, 2007 at 01:48 PM
Oh so pretty!! You've inspired me to get another tatoo!
Swirlyarts · August 16, 2007 at 04:49 PM

blair · August 16, 2007 at 05:19 PM
I hope today was better for you. I was in a crank-tastic mood yesterday myself. Sometimes I'd prefer to stay inside all day but things had to be done. But Dessa is a lovely with her fiery hair and tattoos.
