More frames on more walls

We picked up a big load of stuff that was finished at the framers yesterday, and I finally finished assembling the big wall o' art in the living room that I've had in the works. I couldn't be more pleased...

Some_girls_1560
Beautiful photo from Light Leaks, an Adrian Tomine print, and a vintage furniture drawing in colored pencil that I really love.

Some_girls_1561
An amazingly funny and lovely naive-ish vintage oil painting, tiny Nara print, and a  little drawing-on-napkin by my Sarah which I've dragged with me from place to place for the last 4 years.

Some_girls_1562
A great vintage skate label (blown up and printed by the folks at Blab!), a little black fox print by John Golden, and this incredibly beautiful Ray Ceasar print (my all-time favorite image of his) with a frame that seems made for it.

Some_girls_1563
...and a water-damaged, but very beloved, print by big-eye artist "Lee" (my favorite of the big-eye crowd, FYI), a beautiful John Clark piece, and a wee little tom-cat portrait by Sarah Hogren.

Also waiting for us at the framers is this VERY BELOVED BY ALL WHO LIVE HERE Tara Mcpherson poster for the Atlanta Comics Expo that my sweet peas Devlin and Robert scored for me:

Some_girls_1564
I moved the Seonna Hong print that was there to the kitchen. That poster looks so great with the pink couch!

Whew. Sorry the photos aren't the best, the light in there is pretty crummy.

I love love love Ray Ceasar. His work is so deliciously disquieting.

What a fantastic collection.

ann · July 24, 2007 at 02:18 PM

Wow! I am honored that you bought one of my prints, and even more so to be included in such a great collection!

Thanks,

John W. Golden

John Golden · July 24, 2007 at 02:20 PM

wow, it looks great! You certainly have a way with putting disparate elements (different frames, different works) together in a cohesive way.

sarah · July 24, 2007 at 02:27 PM

Those are all fabulous; I particularly like the little vintage girl with her white kitty-- so sweet.

Ky · July 24, 2007 at 03:00 PM

Thanks for sharing your beautiful framed art collection. They all look amazing together. :)

Have a great day!

kim* · July 24, 2007 at 03:34 PM

so much eye candy! I love it all.

ashley g · July 24, 2007 at 03:44 PM

Oh, my! Oh, oh my!! The trapeze girl in the plaid skirt!! Ok, I just went to Ray Caesar's website to see about getting a print of that and he is sold out! Only 20! ACK!....You see, I'm an aerialist and plaid is just about my most favorite thing on the planet. Also, you've framed the print so beautifully. I just bought and framed two little postcards in lovely frames quite similar (you are my new style guru for a reason, I suppose!). I just sent Ray Caesar an email....I must needs have that print! :)

Oh, I adore Tara Mcpherson. Not least of all because, like you, she looks like her art. I love that. And that poster *does* look sensational with the sofa.

Eee, gorgeous!

birdie · July 24, 2007 at 04:24 PM

what paint color is that on your wall? I love it!

Hilary Glime · July 24, 2007 at 10:41 PM

I think I'm in love with your wall . . .

Alex · July 25, 2007 at 06:06 AM

Absolutely beautiful arrangement! I've got a collection of art that is arranged symmetrically on my wall, but after seeing your room, I may try to rearrange it into a more "random" placement, as you've done. I love the feel of it!

Corey Moortgat · July 25, 2007 at 08:40 AM

I love Adrienne Tomine....I was wondering which prints to hand once i move.

stilettoheights · July 25, 2007 at 09:03 AM

It is rare to see any kind of decorating that is as delightful as your original little self can produce. Absolutely enchanting... it's time for the magazines to bring the big cameras for glossy photo shoots. Love it!

tiffany · July 25, 2007 at 10:00 AM

FABULOUS!
it must be so nice just to sit in there
and look around. im sure every picture has a story.

So many frames, I work in the frameing biz and that many frames to do is a love/hate thing for us. Its great to to have the business but after the 5th one its like "oh my god it keeps going! why?! why?!"

Hey did you see if you could get an artist's discount? I know a lot of places offer up to 50% on frameing for artists even if you aren't frameing your work. (Well at least mine does a few other do in memphis)

Katie · July 25, 2007 at 10:50 AM

Wow. Your wall makes me happy :)

Malin · July 25, 2007 at 11:24 AM

Ohmigosh... are you kidding me with how fabulous that looks? My goodness... it's dreamy. I could just see the little cafe you would have, were you to be so inclined. I would be there "working from home" with my laptop, sipping a big milkshake, flipping through a quirky Euromag, surrounded by framed lovelies hung just so, at this height, listening to Neko & Jenny Watson while I devoured some warm berry pie. Heaven.

P.S. Do you sneak back out there at night and turn the lights back on just to have another peak? I always do that when I'm pleased with myself over something I've done at home. :)

karaalison · July 25, 2007 at 11:26 AM

i love lee too! I have some of his go go dancers flitting about on my walls!

TumTum · July 25, 2007 at 12:18 PM

lilirose · July 27, 2007 at 01:26 AM

I hadn't heard of Ray Ceasar before, his work is amazing. I was really taken aback by his process.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm not sure if you're aware, but your Enid Wallet done with Tiny Meat is pictured in an advertisement for an online store in the front of the latest BUST issue.

Nicole · July 27, 2007 at 12:17 PM
