I got a few of my Christmas-y decorations from Ms. Lovely Jennifer Murphy's line with Midwest of Cannon Falls in the mail yesterday, and I've been poring over them since the hopped out of the box.
I have to admit, it threw me for a loop initially to see, for the first time, a friend's (well, crafty-internet-friend) work reproduced in this fashion, especially since there are so many special, hand-crafted details. They did a really nice job, and I think that it really speaks to her design work and intrinsic quirkiness that the characters translate so well, even if made by other hands and with less fancy materials...see exhibits A, B, and C right here:
So good.
Up til now, there has been nothing that I love this much in the world of contemporary holiday decorations. Now I can't wait for my Halloween fellows.
Congratulations, Jenn!!! They are an unqualified success.
Happy Weekend, all my other applets!

How awesome are the Murphy Bears, seriously?
Those little guys are truly excellent; I must admit to a certain fondness for Christmas and Halloween decorations.

I gotta tell you, I love your blog but I find the "applets" thing down right insulting. As though if I read your blog I'm like your child or your protege. It may not be your intention, but that is how it comes across...to me.

Love her Christmas stuff...I received one of the Halloween pumpkin figures and the balancing pig a couple of weeks ago and you are right, the details are spot on.

They're gorgeous! They really remind me of the Christmas decorations and toys my grandmother had when I was growing up.

Hi Emily,
I personally love when you call us applets...it's cute! I often refer to my friends as gumdrops or cuties:)

oh wow i had no idea about this..they are just as sweet "not as fancy" because it reminds me of xmas handmade things :) lovely.
i'm sorry about that comment up there..i guess i can kinda see where they might be coming from but man haha..obviously you do not mean it in the way they are concerned about haha jeeze. i think it's a nice way to include your readers because after all they are readers (at the least, probably customers, too) and coming to your blog is a special place..it's meant to be endearing like you said, and a sweet way to recognize their loyalty. don't let it bother you sweetie pie! -Caitlin
