A look at some of the things that were added to the shop today:
And, hooray! Another great update is complete!
If you didn't get the piece you were after, I am very sorry...it is such a stressful and strange thing trying to navigate the shop at the update times. The good news is that with this update, if you didn't get your mitts on something new, there are a few things that were added that there are plenty of!
The "Little Misfit" pin pack...freshly in the shop, as well as...dum da dum:
The Hedgie Family totes are here! I wanted to hug my UPS man when he delivered them this morning...they are just perfect. I love them so.
Just a quick and boring note about painting-pricing before I head off to, oh, be a real person.
An astute customer would probably have noticed, over the evolution of my shop and the last two years, that my prices have slowly, but steadily increased until now. In the beginning I was simply charging far too little for an original work, because it was so important to me for my work to be within the grasp of almost anybody who wanted to own a piece. That is absolutely still important to me, and now I think I've finally worked out a rubric that is fair to me and to my buyers.
A happy medium, if you will, between undervaluing my work and becoming inaccessible for the people that love it. So, for the foreseeable future, the cost of the paintings will hover around a distinct price-range, which is dependant mostly on size and simplicity (for me...I know that all artists do this differently). Hooray! Now that's all laid out...I feel much better, for some reason. It's just something that I worry over a great deal.
Happy Weekend, lovelies, and thank you for all of the incredible support. You're the bee's knees.

I think you should charge a billion dollars for all your paintings. And then use that billion dollars for vacations for you and I (Josie, Lee, Sarah, and Greg can also come if funds permit).

I still think you could list your paintings on ebay and we would all get in a huge bidding war and you could make your fortune! So see how nice you are to sell them at a set price? Did you list the figurines? I didn't even see them! Is my internet really that slow? Did they really go that fast? Darn it! Oh, well, I'm not surprised they were so wonderful!

And what would the bees be without their kness??? You darling girl. I think I got there at 11:02 (2:02 your time)and everything was gone. Oh, pricing is soo hard. The love and time alone is quite difficult to price...Well, it is actually priceless. I am with your friend above, a billion dollars! In all seriousness, you are quite the talent, and I am sure all of your buyers are happy. Off to my own show. I am having the most delightful little sandwich, and then back to the chaos....xxo,Vanessa

Emily, you deserve every penny. You are a wonderful artist and I am delighted by everything I've gotten from you--it makes me happy every time I pass by one of them. Have a great weekend!
Helen · March 30, 2007 at 06:30 PM
Oh! Try not to fret too much about pricing, Emily! You are so thoughtful and I think every one of your customers knows that and is oh, so happy to purchase a piece of your work. It is "Work", remember? Even if it's the most lovely, fun and special work of all...you still need to be paid fairly. Okay, no more soapbox for me...I just mean to say that it *is* a hard thing to figure out. Have a lovely weekend!

Fretting, fretting! I hope you do more totes, I want one sooo badly to haul around my baby girl's toys and such. And the hedgie plush ... so perfect ... boohoo for me, once more. Lovely things, as always!

I was there but someone got there before me. Wanted a sculpture! I think your prices are very reasonable...so not to worry. Can't wait for next update!

Oh, what a wonderful update! I love everything, but "Heidi" is just amazing! And I agree--- you deserve every penny. I bought "Virginia" a time ago, and it was one of the first "real art" pieces I could afford. It meant and still means alot to me. I've noticed that you keep a range of prices and I've always thought that to be very kind. I'm also pleased to see you charging more for certain pieces, because they are certainly worth that and more!
Also, as much as I love the big updates, is it possible to sneak something original into your shop once in awhile? I kind of miss checking your shop obsessively! :)

I kept thinking that the hedgie totes had just sold out - so I was happy to snatch one this morning! I just love your stuff!
rebeccca · March 31, 2007 at 07:34 AM
Oh, what fun to watch the little pretties being snatched up protectively by their loving new homes. I wasn't shopping this time around, but logged-on anyway to watch, grinning, as each refresh revealed new items, and their immediate disappearance. Dear Emily -- you've managed to make so many of us from so far away feel connected to not just your work, but you as a person, and we feel invested in your successes -- whether that means a new car, the perfect apple pie, or rapid sale of your latests works. Well done, missy. Well done. :)

Pricing is one of the most difficult aspects of selling your creative work. Especially for artists because paintings are all so different it's not something you can just do market research on like I was able to do for my aprons.
Angelina · March 31, 2007 at 01:21 PM
I am so glad to have found you xx
Love your work and am delighted to have 2 prints on the way - now i will wait for an original!

Congrats on another successful update! Everything's adorable as always.
I was wondering if adult sized tees were in the somewhat near future? :]
Kate · April 02, 2007 at 03:41 AM
You make the most adorable things, ever! And if the heavens allow me to have my way, I will someday buy a set of pins.
Adult sized tees would really be fabulous and hopefully you would consider making some in the future!

Love those hegie totes. They are soooo cute!!!
tiffany · April 02, 2007 at 11:19 AM
I wasn't sure how to reply to the comment you sent me so I went back on here to reply!
The Hedgie tote print would look cute! I'm tryng to picture them on yellow tees because I have this obsession with yellow t-shirts these days.
I really liked the teacup girl but I especially adored the silhoutte of the girl with the bird nest hair. I definitely love the the latter.
