Pretty necklace and freshly dyed blouse

This blouse turned out the perfect cherry-ish, warm red. It used to be kind of "skin" colored, and I really wanted a red blouse, so out with the packets of dye!

I keep forgetting to take before and after photos of my dying adventures, and I want to, because it's really quite amazing! I did a batch of warm grey last night that turned out be-a-utiful.

I really recommend it (dying) if you have a light-colored, or even mid-colored article of at least partially natural-fiber clothing that you aren't happy with/are bored with.
Just ask yourself: would I wear this more if it were grey or red or yellow or what-have-you? If you would, and you're not wearing it too much the way it is, it's worth the risk. And it's so easy doing it in the washing machine.

The necklace I wore today is new from this loverly Etsy shop...I took a photo of it the day it came:

I'm inspired to dye some of my lighter colored clothes now. This looks so lovely.

I am curious about those yellow shoes on your blog link too! Where are they from? (not that I could pull off yellow shoes and I doubt they come in my size)

When you dye fabrics, do you set the colour with anything? I have a pair of Jeans that I want to dye black (so I can wear them to work!) but I've never dyed anything before.

I'm so excited to see some new posts! I've been wanting to tell you that you've really inspired me - I found your blog in July (via whatwereeating, which led to the black apple) and just loved the posts tagged handmade fashion. Our tastes are similar, and you made it look like something I could do, so much so that I bought some new tools, hit the thrift shop, and trimmed up a new old skirt - hopefully, this is just the beginning. Thank you!

Oh, and to get back on topic, I dyed a cardigan, so it went from ok to beautiful mint green. I agree with you, it's easy, everyone should try it.

Thank you!

PS I too would be curious about the dye you tend to use.

Omigosh! The girl who made your necklace lives just a few miles away from me. Small world. :) Very lovely.
