Orphaned Leaves Skirt

May 17, 2007 · Daily Outfits, Handmade Fashion

When I performed emergency surgery on the Target Bag a few weeks ago, there were some leftover canvas leaves that were just too pretty to toss. Luckily, there was a boring seersucker skirt who was looking to spice up her appearance, and the leaves were just the thing.

I used the leaves, some jumbo ric-rac, a vintage hankie and some pretty lace to sass it up a bit!

This is an awful photo, taken at night after the sun went to sleep, but it's the whole outfit (too bad you can't really see my amazing blue-suede T strap Chie's.

You can, however, see my little grey kitten.

i love it! i'm always afraid of "ruining" things, and you're such an inspiration to just go ahead and bust out the trim to improve them.

oh jeeze. i don't know how but i missed that may 5 post. i was like wait i know those leaves what is she talking about when did she do this haha. i have that bag also and i got it months ago and i have used it like twice to cart things back and forth to the city. I'm kinda a big bag kinda girl, but the thing about this one is that it kinda slips of my shoulder..and maybe it's just too big? i think it's best when a big bag slouches perhaps. i'm afraid i'll make a turn and knock something over behind me. SHOULD I CUT MINE ALSO?? I'll have to sleep on it.

wow! i love how your essentially "collaged" other elements onto your skirt--how inventive and fun! love, love, love it! :D

cute, I have the same "boring" seer sucker skirt...I wear mine with a bright red top and it changes the whole feel of the outfit.

I think I know which Chie Mihara's you have on. I'm full of envy--the whole line is fantastic.

I really like how you've made Target stuff "your own." I have the skirt and the grey leaf tote also - you've inspired me to try to dream up my own customization :)

And you have Chies. So, so envious!
