The Black Apple › Inside A Black Apple

This is Halloween

November 01, 2007 · About Me (Mostly)

I hope everyone had a lovely Halloween! Mine was filled with a great deal of baking, spooky-soundtrack making, apartment decorating, and lounging around with some excellent friends.

This was what the scene was yesterday at Black Apple headquarters:

To see many, many of my party + decoration photos, just follow the jump!

Josiah made this really cool garland from folded paper skulls:

I had this very Halloween-ish frame, so I popped in a little vintage photo (with a bandito mask added):

I was busy baking and flitting around the kitchen for most of yesterday...and cloves + squash were a key player (as they usually are at fall cooking events):

Here's the pretty food table:

Aren't those striped candles the best?! I found them at Target.

A black apple was obviously necessary...

Tablecloth
Josiah made this cool, spooky-witchy tablecloth for the serving table.

Here we are, Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, looking tough:

And here are some of our lovely guests:

 Jenny
Jenny (right above) made a smashing Margot Tenenbaum. This detail really perfected it:

Whew! That's a lot of photos! Thanks for perusing, and enjoy your day.

Adorable decorations!! I love your blog. Your art work caught my eye because it is very much in the same vein as my daughters work. She too enjoys your blog a lot and noticed that you had a pair of shoes that she had :) We both want to buy some of your prints at your etsy shop. I can't wait.

I think I have that same blonde wig. If it's not exactly the same, it's darn close.

Awesome decorations!

Your decor is perfect, and I LOVE the Bonnie & Clyde costumes. I wonder if I could convince my husband to do that with me next year...

Your blog is officially a new addiction for me. I even went back through the archives because your personality and your posts are so out of control cute. Seeing todays post, I know that I will never recover from this new jones because everything you post is incredible. Your house is so cool, your party was so cute. GEEZ! You're making me gush all over myself over here. Thanks for the inspiration!

KiWi · November 01, 2007 at 04:28 PM

How cool! I bah humbugged it this year, but am already planning for next year to make up for the grouchiness of this year!

Kim · November 01, 2007 at 04:31 PM

Wow. Looked like a fun party. Pssst. I though it was Amy Winehouse too, for a split second!

linda · November 01, 2007 at 05:17 PM

Fun! What a marvelous party!

tiffany · November 01, 2007 at 06:54 PM

Lovely! Your home always looks so warm and inviting - especially in all it's halloween-y glory. Thanks for sharing :)

P.S. After seeing the title of your post earlier I have been whistling that Nightmare Before Christmas tune non-stop... much to the dismay of my co-workers. (Good thing I'm not much of a singer or they'd really be in trouble!)

What a great Halloween party...love all the yummy food and the great costumes :D

Danielle Nilsson · November 01, 2007 at 07:37 PM

Your decorations are great. I love the skull streamers. Everyone's costumes where so creative and you make a great Bonnie.

Kristi · November 01, 2007 at 08:10 PM

Your decorations and party look so warm and fun and halloweeny. Great job, and Josiah had some amazing contributions, too. What a team.

I've never heard of the squash/cloves combo. We do squash a lot in the fall, but it's usually paired with bacon or apple... I might have to try some cloves next time.

Laura · November 01, 2007 at 08:45 PM

i love love love the details in this post.

ashley j-p · November 01, 2007 at 09:06 PM

I think Amy Winehouse might have a little competition. The Halloween party I was at last night had a super convincing Amy and the best part was that she was a guy in drag, lol Here is part 2 of the photos

what a great post! beautiful decorations and the mosst amazingly set table!

jill · November 02, 2007 at 12:39 AM

such a pretty, and haunted post! I love those cupcakes- look divine. I am laughing because all the bloggers I know, including myself all titled their Halloween entries: "this is Halloween." We must all be "Nightmare before Christmas" fans.

Creole Wisdom · November 02, 2007 at 12:46 AM

you are just so cute!

arifa · November 02, 2007 at 05:11 AM

WOW. The whole thing looks so cosy and fun! Amy Winehouse is a great costume idea, I thought of that but I'm too pregnant to carry it off, lol.

cassie · November 02, 2007 at 06:17 AM

De-lurking here- what a great party!! It looks like you all had a great time. Wherever did you find that fantastic skull garland??!!??
