There are times, in the Black Apple household, in which certain package deliveries emit ridiculous amounts of squealing and shrieks of delight. These new custom address labels (for your packages!) is one such delivery:
I think they look so sweet with my kraft-colored mailers.
PS: Thanks to conscientious Elizabeth, who reminded me that it's not the smartest to publicize your home address on ye olde internette.
PPS: For everyone curious, the labels are just from Uline.com! The drawing/design is all me, but Uline printed them for me :)

weird! I have read your blog occasionally for a couple of months since seeing your artwork somewhere online and recently added it to my rss reader, but I never realized that you live in the same town I do. uh - nothing other major to say, but I had to comment on that, so hi :) your paintings are fantastic!
beth · August 01, 2007 at 03:10 PM
oooh, i love those! will you share where they came from? or is it a secret?!
:)
KatinkaPinka · August 01, 2007 at 03:38 PM
Where did you get these printed? I am looking to get some labels printed up for The Shiny Squirrel and need to find a good company to do it.
Can you send along the link?
Jessica · August 01, 2007 at 04:19 PM

You're welcome... I just got nervous for you because I thought in your excitement over your package, you might not have given it a second thought. I doubt you would have to worry about most of the people who read this, but your blog does seem to reach a large number of people, many of whom came out of hiding during your prize giveaways, so yeah, I'm glad you understood and didn't think I was trying to be rude. I remember when I first starting blogging, people would even tell me to be wary of using my kids' actual names! That really scared me because it had totally never occurred to me. Anyway, thanks for taking my suggestion seriously. You really are a swell gal. :-)
Elizabeth · August 01, 2007 at 05:46 PM
Those are amazing!!! They are so you! :o)
Liana · August 01, 2007 at 05:48 PM
Ah, so I must be sure to order something (a shop update coming soon??) so I can enjoy one of these darling labels!
Better yet, do tell who printed them so I can get some for myself! It'd be a good incentive to start sending REAL mail again rather than the e-kind! ;)
Lara · August 01, 2007 at 06:11 PM
Just chiming in to say they look great and I'd love to know where you got them!
Emma · August 01, 2007 at 06:27 PM

Also, I have to say, I love the previous post!!! Your painting is incredible! And, I too find myself pouring over such books... Aren't the children so funny?? They are like shrunken adults.. so cute! xxo

Peter brought home a Uline catalog for me a few months ago, it was exuded almost the same feel as when the season shifts and I get the newest J Crew catalog with all new stuff.
We call it packaging porn.
Those labels are so cute, you are so dialed in my friend!
xo
Blair · August 02, 2007 at 12:21 AM
Love 'em! Now I'll definitely HAVE to order something from you! (Well as soon as work starts again, in a few weeks...)
I really love your work. And you are SUCH fun to read! Yours is the first Blog I read when I go through my bookmarks.
MissKoolAid · August 02, 2007 at 12:23 AM
You are far too creative for my little pocket books, Dear. (So much great stuff.) But one day my children's walls will be adorned with your lovely work.
Adalen · August 02, 2007 at 12:47 AM
Beautiful. You seem very productive recently, what's your secret? I am struggling to be motivated this month!

sarah london · August 02, 2007 at 07:56 AM
Those labels are lovely, and I look forward to receiving a package bedecked with one someday.......but I really can't stop staring at what appears to be an album cover in the back of the photo which may/may not say "He Touched Me"! It is cracking me up.....
guildencrantz · August 02, 2007 at 12:37 PM
Your labels are wonderful!!! Thanks for the pointer! Argh... I've been using paypal to print labels for me. So my choice is 1) plain & convenient or 2) custom.... Hmmm....
tricia mckellar · August 02, 2007 at 12:47 PM
A fabulous job was done by all. Now I will have to order something just so I can see one up close! Everything you do is darling!
tiffany · August 02, 2007 at 12:48 PM

Lizziie · August 02, 2007 at 01:50 PM
hi emily! i loooooooooooove your labels. and your latest portrait. love, love, love. and i didn't realize sara's andy is from denver. i may be able to get her to help me find an adorable house afterall. and then i'm flying you in to decorate.
risa · August 02, 2007 at 03:55 PM
I bunch of people asked where to get the labels, Emily did state that she bought her labels from uline(.com) their labels are very cool, but pretty expensive.
There is a cool little company, Superior Labels, that offers a free sample page of 60 return address labels for just the cost of shipping, $2.95. This is lots less that the $7.00+ that Vistaprint charges for "free" labels. There are some really pretty choices.
Enjoy!
Label guy · August 02, 2007 at 05:18 PM
Those new postal labels of yours are wonderful... a fitting and fantastical label for a parcel bound to contain equally fantastical things for the receiver.
see you, grache
gracia · August 02, 2007 at 07:14 PM
i love the labels.. but what's really catching my eye is the stack of lovely fabric behind them.. as it is, i am already resisting the urge to buy more fabric!
Cupcake Eater · August 02, 2007 at 07:20 PM
hmm.. i don't think my comment posted. oh well, here it is again... just saying i really like the labels, but what i really love in the photo is the pile of lovely fabrics. it's dissolving my restraint from buying more fabric!
Cupcake Eater · August 02, 2007 at 07:22 PM
I wanted to email but haven't set up my computer properly, so this is just a little note to say you are an inspiration! I finished my degree in illustration a year ago and although I love the world of art and craft I'm having trouble finding my feet. Your blog encourages me to keep going! Thank you very much. Oh and I love your labels!! x
Jess · August 02, 2007 at 07:59 PM
emily, not only are you one of the most talented women i have seen around craft blog land, but you are a marketing genious! you are such a natural, i predict your future will be very bright...brighter than it already is.
