A batch of new girlies are up in the shop! Not all of them are there, though, so don't think your eyes are deceiving you if you don't see one from the photo up in the shop. I am doing a fun, annual holiday market on Thursday and Friday, so I'm saving some of the duncies for that. Any of the dollies that don't get taken home, though, will certainly be listed in the shop! Anyone that is local, please come visit me at the Big City Bread market from 5-9 on Thursday and Friday! I would love to meet you. I will be there, along with my partner (or bandit, if you will) in crime,Ms. Sara K.
A few other bits:
I finally ordered this & this, which I've been coveting from the Magic Jelly shop for a while. There are some really quirky and neat artists on Etsy that get lost in the shuffle...because lord knows there is alot of...um...not-so-neat stuff.
also
Are any of you fans of the film Grey Gardens? I am...I think it is amazingly sad and hilarious and wonderful. HOWEVER, did you hear that they are making a new version?
"A new version?!" you exclaim... "Of a documentary?!"
Oh yes, and starring...wait for it....
Drew Barrymore as Little Edie.
Even if you haven't seen the film, the notion of remaking a legendary documentary with actors should confuse you. I am certainly confused.
Back to work, back to work.
xoxo

I found you through knotty bits, and I'm so excited I did! I've barely looked around, but:
(1) That embroidery up there? What?! SO glorious!
(2) Those pointy-hats? Forget about it. SO cute. And, finally,
(3) DREW? BARRYMORE? You've got to be kidding. I'm sure her costume for the day won't be nearly as amazing as the real Little Edie's. No way. No how.

Too Cute! My favorite is the one with the blue hat on the front row. Great work!

Oh wow, the prints you purchased are fantastic. Actually, that shop is all quite fantastic!
(the duncies too, beyond adorable)

Oh, and, apparently..there's already a musical of Grey Gardens.. o_O
The world is mad, I tell you..

I hope you do well at the Big City Bread market. Everyone I have spoken with in the past has done really well. I will see you there.
I know you are a thrifting person too. The project safe thrift store near the ymca on hawthorne is one of my favorites here in athens.

I love the fabric you used for the duncies' outfits.
I, too, am a Grey Gardens fan. Ah, Little Edie could make such a glorious fashion statement with a terry cloth hand towel and a brooch.

Thanks for the Magic Jelly link. I just bought two beautiful art deco cards for my mom!

I have been a huge fan of Grey Gardens for years. I wanted to let you know that the new film coming out is not a remake of the documentary, but rather a film about the Edie's before the era shown in the documentary. So Drew will be playing a younger version of Little Edie. It should be interesting.
Also, a new DVD came out today called The Beales of Grey Gardens. It's a disc full of extra footage from the documentary filming.
And for even more on Grey Gardens check out Lois Wright's (the woman who came for Big Edie's birthday) e-book on Amazon. It's basically a journal from the year she lived at GG with the Edies. It's a pretty fascinating read.

That movie was so darling. I love old ladies with their kitties and all the rest of their little friends in their little worlds. I would only hope to be as grand as them. Well maybe a little bit more tidy though.

As for a remake of grey gardens, I'm confused but definitely intrigued. I love that movie and its weirdness.
Will you babysit my kids for an evening so I can get as much done as you've got here. You're a machine, a cute one, but a machine nonetheless.

These dolls are so sweet. I can't believe how talented you are across so many different mediums. Genious girl - truly!
Nice purchases too - they are lovely prints indeed.

oh!oh!oh!
I loooove the pendants!
Actually, I love everything you make, but a pendant...! I need one. Badly.
Will you make more? (please?)
pendlerpiken · December 06, 2006 at 05:28 AM
how did you get into big city's holiday market??
missy · December 06, 2006 at 08:37 AM
Good luck with the BCB market, not that you'll need it. I'm sure you'll do fantastic!

Big fan of Grey Gardens, in fact to make my husband chuckle I will dress like Edie. I wear my skirt upside down with a sweater covering my head and a big broach pinned on top. To much fun! I am looking forward to the movie out of curiosity.
Jenn · December 06, 2006 at 11:40 AM
oh no!
I missed them!
I opened up your page yesterday in the morning and there were no duncies. I went about my business of the day: the rest of my school day, a performance for chorus and themn off to work.
And then I opened up the page today only to find that the duncies HAD been posted and I had missed every singe one!
I'm so upset now!
Ackkkk and I was looking forward to it for the past week :[
Is there any way you could make me one on special order like the duncie on the bottom left-hand corner with the pink cap and the button in her hair? She's ADORABLE and I wish she was mine *tear*
Do you think it'd be okay? I could pay you a little extra if needed :] my email is dcfcemoangel@yahoo.com
Lauren Marston · December 06, 2006 at 02:32 PM
ohhh it truly does not get much sweeter!
On this candy stripe couch! my goodness! What do you think they are discussing? Or must they sit in silence?
SWEET as can be!
xoxo Jenny

Did you intend for your family of dunces to look like they could be siblings, or offspring, of yourself? This is a good thing.
Little Cookies · December 10, 2006 at 03:19 PM
Am I the only one who is completely terrified of Grey Gardens?
It's about on par with Sybil, frankly.
Alicia P. · December 11, 2006 at 10:25 PM
ils sont super ces petits personnages !
