Up High in the Trees

August 02, 2006 · Artsy (Mine)

Sittinginthetree1This was painted yesterday, after my tote-sewing binging, and I needed to just paint this little one!

I have such a love of long, skinny canvases...they make you think of stranger stories, I think.  The original sold whilst I was sleeping, but there's a printy version here.

Thank you so much for all of the love for the totes/bags! You guys...

Up for today: Not dying of the heat. I know, everyone is like chickens with their heads cut off about this, and I hate to be another person that mentions it, but I am just impressed really by a heat index of 115. And I'm from Georgia!

Also, attempting to make some super good macaroni n' cheese. This is our new mission in this apartment, after being veritable connoisseurs of various restaurant's mac n' cheese offerings...

And, you know the last one. Project Runway, of course. We'll have to talk more after that (you know we will have to...this is the big drama episode!)...though I will be more careful not to ruin any surprises for my west coasters and central folks this time. I promise!

Love the painting! If you're looking for good Mac N' Cheese, this is a super good recipe that Patti LaBelle originally made for Elton John, which is such a funny history that it makes me like it even more.

Here I am thinking its hot at 95 degrees! You poor thing. I hope have some crisp A/C in your apartment. I am a fall and winter person so just a little heat seems sweltering to me. I love your girl in a tree piece. When I saw it I was listening to Pedro the Lion and it seemed to just fit. I notice that with a lot of your work. With my art I tend to create to music and I always notice when I look at your stuff songs pop into my head. Great work!

Great painting. I think I just realized that the reason I wanted to get my hair cut short again was so I could look like the dark-haired girls in your paintings. Thanks for the inspiration!

I really like your blog. I also like macaroni and cheese, here's a link to a really great recipe - it's kind of light and decadent all at once - yum.
