The disorganized tornado of my teeny bedroom was starting to make me physically ill, so I spent the afternoon cleaning and reorganizing. The most fun of a bunch of no-fun tasks was sorting and weeding out the week links in my knee sock and stocking collection...getting ready for fall, hooray!
I have such an unbelievable obsession with tights and socks, just looking at my collection makes me feel so happy.
Everything looks so darn pretty together, I had to photograph it for you:
I have a funny little tic/ritual that I always engage in when doing an un-fun task, such as cleaning a room. I basically bribe myself, which I have been doing since I was a little, and now am addicted to!
Today, for instance, I promised myself that if I cleaned la room, I could order these beautiful plates:
So, now it's clean. And now I'm off to buy my plates.
My "reward" if you will.
I'm so silly.
PS: Samplers tomorrow, in the shop circa 2:00 pm EST! Three cheers!

I do the same thing, but sort of inverted: if I know a room or area needs cleaning I will go shopping. When I have new items to introduce to the closet/bookshelf/cabinet/whatever, I feel the need to neaten everything up in it's honor. Like a house guest! It works like a charm.
I gorged on hosiery today and felt slightly guilty because I'm a feeble accessorizer. Still, I can't really feel guilty about such a practical item! Your collection is inspiring.

I love looking at your socks and going, "I've got that one... and those... and those..." It's good to know that I'm not the only one!

well, really... how else would we get anything done if it wasn't for a little reward now and then, right?!? so fun!

I seriously almost ordered these plates last week... Did you see the blue kimono window panel?

I meant the blue weeping willow panel... I am dying for it.

Oh that is a fabulous pile of clothes and socks ! Simply wonderful! The plates are the perfect reward for such a job well done!

Those plate are so incredible. They stopped me in my tracks last time I was in Urban Outfitters. The matching bowls are super cool, too.
When I was living on my own I ate out all the time. To get myself to go to the grocery store (to save money!), I bribed myself with inari sushi from the deli every time I went. :) This was in San Francisco ... so the grocery store sushi was pretty good. In most places, grocery store sushi would probably be a punishment not a bribe.

I love those plates. I'm only 1/2 way through organizing my craft/sewing/paper, etc.,. space. My brain hurts just thinking about it.
