The Black Apple › Inside A Black Apple

Little Miss Friday

August 04, 2006 · The Magic Sock (A Random Assortment)

So, I gravely forgot a few days ago to inform you ladies (and men...man....) of something important,
which is that "Little Miss Sunshine" was WONDERFUL! So good. I laughed so hard, and I also teared up a little, so it's a well-rounded experience. The characters were really great, and the actors playing them were wonderful, too...particularly Steve Carrell and Alan Arkin (who I've thought since "Edward Scissorhands" is one of the funniest men in the world).

Anyway, I had to tell you that before I forgot! Go see it if it is playing near you. You won't be dissapointed.

In the black apple-making things front, we have this:

The original sold on my shop already, but I'm very excited that it's going to be offered as an exclusive print through The Wonderful Mahar Drygoods. I wanted to do a print run that would only be sold through Robert, at his great little site, and this is the image that I decided on. If you love it as much as I do, you'll be able to purchase it through their website (maybe along with some of the other incredible things for children that he has!).
He suggested the lovely leaf boat concept, which I loved, and so went to town. So, along with these hedgie boys, and another round of my paper dolls, they will be going off to their new home soon.

I also made this little shoulder tote yesterday for myself:

Momscamera_397_copy

It's constructed out of a dark espresso-ish faux leather (so fun to sew with...kidding) and that amazing flocked fabric I got at Mood last weekend. I'm almost out of the  (albeit very small amount) that I bought, and I think I will venture back for more. The only problem with it is that it is $40 a yard. Yeah, I know...ouch. Really, ouch +. But it is so beautiful, and everone that sees it loves it, so I think that I should take the plunge and go back for more. It was kind of greedy of me to make myself a bag out of it, but I guess that just makes me a greedy Gus. I was thinking about this particular tote  from Anthropologie. So eat your heart out, you anthropologie designer guys....even if yours is..well...still much better than mine!

I need to clean today. Big time.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, my little starfish!
xo,
emily

I like your tote WAY better than the anthropologie one - I don't like the handle on theirs and your colours are way nicer (ugh - my grammar/spelling are atrocious today, which is bad news because I have a book review due at the end of the day!)

Have a great weekend.
