We didn't have anything planned for the nation's birthday (it kind of snuck up on us) but on the spur of the moment, I threw up some paper lanterns, string lights, and arranged a little outdoor dinner party for us two.
The gentleman grilled some amazing turkey burgers, and we had strawberry lemonade and a classic layer cake for dessert.
I changed his mind about potato salad (it can be good!) and we had lots of sparklers.
To me, it was pretty much perfect!
