Happily, I seem to have found about 13 or 14 homes for my new tags over the last couple of days...

My stitching finger is feeling a little sore today!
If you peer closely at the top right-hand photo, you'll see some black/grey pants and some olive pants...'cause this time around I made a few little boys to keep this gaggle of girls company. And they are really cute, and it was simple to alter the pattern.
Also, I made a few creeping bunnies yesterday, and the pattern I drafted last week seems to work splendidly and reliably. That also means (for those of you who wrote to inquire) that a couple will be creeping into the shop update that's coming up soon!
Woot!
While I'm on this sewing bonanza, I think we're going to investigate getting a new machine for me today. Very exciting! I've had the same Brother model for about 5 or 6 years, and while it was a great machine to learn on, it's not the most precise or powerful of machines. And the tension is allllllll jacked up. So, let's go make an investment for the future of Black Apple sewn projects, shall we?

I told you a boy would be cute. :)

Too cute Emily! How fun to get a new sewing machine. I use my mother's Singer machine that she bought when she was a teenager. It works great but only does straight stitches. I'd love to buy myself a new sewing machine that could do all sorts of neat stuff! Please keep us posted on what kind of machine you get. Have fun! ;o)

So excited to see you are sewing.
I just listened to the podcast and I enjoyed the interview.
I did print the pattern from MS and hope to try sewing one for myself. The question I have is the material type for face is it canvas? Have a great day..Oh one more question are your prints available in 5 x 7?

Looks great Emily. I can't wait to see the new dolls. A boy is just to cool!

Every time you put dolls in the shop they sell out before I can even blink. Are you open to doing a custom order?
Jessica · April 20, 2008 at 01:45 PM
go get a Bernina - you'll have it for as long as you live (some folks actually 'will' them to their relatives), and if you buy one w/ the embroidery unit, you can download software and do all sorts of interesting things with it...I highly recommend it...

I had to finally just log in and tell you how much I love all your work. I check in on your blog regularly and on the etsy shop constantly. Your art is amazing to me. I have four of your prints framed in my small dining room of our apartment. Perhaps I'll snap a shot and send a pic your way :-).
I just keep hoping that some day you'll put your little girls under acrylic in an oval pendant hanging from big black beads. I get geeked out over necklaces and would love to wear these beauties all day everyday! I envision them like hotcakes designs stuff (www.hotcakesdesign.com)
Keep it up--love it all!

Although I know for a fact that Berninas are great machines, I'm a Janome girl myself. "Jan" has never failed me even after all the abuse I put her through. My two cents would be if you're going to do a lot of embroidery and fancy stitching then go all out. However, if you need something with more control and power, get yourself a reliable workhorse! Bernina's and Janome's basic models are great; don't let those salespeople pressure you into anything (since most are on commission). Do your research and ask many, many questions. Have fun shopping!

Recently stumbled across your blog(s), and immediately fell in love, I had to read through your archive in one stretch! - Now I'm here everyday as a true applet, and just wanted to let you know, as I think it feels like spying if I never leave a trace!! Thanks for inspiration and smiles:-)

i got a pfaff tiptronic in january and so far it works really well i could not afford the bernina
i considered a janome as well and then wondered if i should have gotten a viking. it's a tough decision.
i can't wait to see which one you choose.

I dream of a Pfaff machine, I think they are just the fanciest! Shopping for craft goodies is just so much fun! Good Luck :)

Ooh, I want a sewing machine..The tension on my mom's is all messed up too, and we don't have the manual since the machine's older than me..But I love the dolls and I'm definitely gonna make some soon!

Hi Emily,
I frequently go to your shop and look through your large selection of prints. Will you be attending Renegade Craft Fair this summer? I hope so! I will be there selling and looking forward to seeing your work in person!

I SO want to own one of your dolls. It is like trying to buy tickets to a Madonna or U2 concert (sold out in 5 seconds!)
Your work is amazing and I can't wait for the next update!
Cheers

Nice to see that such delectable things can come out of a Brother. Because that is what I've got. I started on an old clunker hand me down of a machine from a friend, I've moved on to the Brother as an intermediate machine and I'm really happy with it.

Hi there I would go to your local Viking department at Joanns...and check out a husqvarna myself...it is self tensioning...they are wonderful machines... you might want to get one that embroiders too..I have a Scandinavia 400 and it sews and embroiders and they will give you free classes to learn your new machine...It is definitely better then my Pfaff..Just a thought...you could go for the cadillac of machines and get the designer SE...oh my gosh is that thing ever loaded....it cuts the thread for you...just go check it out for fun...Love your blog by the way...love your photos too...
