Fern

I have a few photos from our wonderful weekend trip, but what I really wanted to show you is my first proper painting of 2008:

I am really, really happy with this little gal. She came about when I remembered my childhood love of ferns...the ones that close up in your hands (and the less-magical ones, too, of course). They are loamy and mountainish and just so beautiful.

I've realized that my color palette has really shifted more to warm, antiqued tones over the last year...and I think I'm happier with my work because of it. That's not to say I'm afraid of saturated color, heck no! I'm just really loving the look of saturated color that has a patina of yellow-y brown age, I suppose.

I am hoping to update the shop with dolls and originals before the end of January, so I'll keep you posted. Have a wonderful week, sweet applets!
And thank you, always, for coming to visit me and the black apple nook.

Oh! Lovley! I love how the ferns look like they are streching and the mushrooms are my fave part. Great work.

She is such a beautiful addition to your library of work (if that is the right phrase for it). It must be a delightful feeling to have your first painting turn out so beautifully. I am looking forward to the shop update. Have a lovely day.
