The Black Apple › Inside A Black Apple

Thank you + Sale Announcement!

September 14, 2007 · The Magic Sock (A Random Assortment)

Thank you guys, so so much, for all of the suggestions/thoughtful comments/etc. about the moving + new place stuff. You are such a great help to me! Please, please, keep it coming...I need all the help I can get when it comes to finding a new place for Myself + Miette to lay our little heads.

Ontheroad_2
I cannot WAIT to be on the road again...on the way to a new place to call home. That entails applications/accept-ions to graduate school (Josiah, not me) and a few other things to consider. But it's mostly about finding a homey place that feels right.

So! I had been toying with an idea for a sale for a while...and I finally decided to go for it. Next Monday + Tuesday, there will be a wee sale in The Black Apple shop!

Sale_2

Please  feel free to email if you have any questions, and  tell any pals that have been waiting around to order that now is the time! Remember, the sale is MONDAY + TUESDAY (there seems to be a little confusion about that).

Hedgesale

It's even the talk of the town in the painted Hedgie community.

I'm feeling all itchy-fingered and electric and creative, which is really good, because I was feeling the opposite of those things for the last couple days. So locked-in-painting/making/sewing/baking weekend it is! I cannot wait. I hope there are happy weekends in store for everyone, and I'll talk to you soon!

Yay! Good luck with the sale and best of luck with your move...you will find the right place...because you will make it the right place!

I haven't posted here before, but I've been lurking for a while.

I just recently did the interviewing thing and ended up in Brattleboro, VT. It's artsy, not too small, and a day trip's distance from Boston. The view of the stars is brilliant and we're right on the Connecticut river. Fantastic food co-op and thrift stores and good food and music and book stores... I love it here.

Check out findyourspot.com too.

Hooray on the sale. :)

You should consider Chicago! It's the best city in the world. It's not overwhelming like other cities, it's cold nearly all the time, and it's right on the lake. It's just perfect.

woo hoo! woo hoo!

Good luck with finding a new home! I wish I lived in Athens so that I could attend whatever moving away sale you're sure to have! (You can't take all your pretty furniture with you, can you?)

Your little hedgehogs reminded me that I recently saw some hedgehogs in a pet store for sale. They were teeny little guys and so adorable and I immediately thought of your art. And I didn't even know you could keep hedgehogs as pets!

ps. And bless your magic mitten for bringing along a cool spell during this dreadful, dreadful summer!

Fussbunny · September 15, 2007 at 10:25 AM

i showed these to my son and he loves them. it inspired him to go get his stuffed hedgie to snuggle under the covers.

Moving? WoW it seems like only yesterday I was reading about you moving into your current place?!? Time obviously flies. Love the look of the name of your kitty kat, but have always wondered how you pronounce it? All the best for your home search. Lindasonia

LindaSonia · September 15, 2007 at 11:10 AM

so you seem to have an affinity for hedgehogs. Is there a reason for that?

jen · September 15, 2007 at 11:19 AM

nooo! Not a sale! I'll be far too tempted... lol. I'll probably be about. *sigh* though I shouldn't, since I'm no power-seller like you, lol.

I loved living in Dayton when I was growing up. Then again... the neighborhood kind of went downhill since we left... the true birthplace of flight though, you know. :D It gets plenty chilly in the winter, and gets tons of REAL snow (none of this sissy Georgia "snow"), while it doesn't ever get the nasty summer mugginess either, just a dry heat, which isn't nearly and overwhelming and wilt-y.

'Course, if I had to choose anywhere in the world to live, it would by Feltsopeteny or Romhany, Hungary. Wonderful weather (including real snow! It's similar to Ohio weather-wise), wonderful history and architecture, Budapest (I LOVE Budapest!!!) amazing friendly people, delicious food (local bakeries there are to DIE for), and far less yucky/fast paced than it is pretty much anywhere here in the States. Plus, it's where I picked up my obsession with hedgehogs, so I might now have found you otherwise. But I'm guessing you're looking for somewhere in the U.S. ;)

Hi Emily!

Well I just went through this moving process 2 weeks ago and can tell you it's definitely worth it! My husband just got a job in Seattle, we moved from Toronto Ontario.
I'm the one who won your little tote bag a couple of months ago :) In the process of the move I think I forgot to tell you that I received it....so THANK YOU! I LOVE IT! I've been carrying it everywhere I go :) I just started my own little blog ... it's a bit rough at the moment but hopefully soon it will be fully functioning! Good Luck with moving and finding a new place to call home :)
