Catching you lovelies up...

December 10, 2006 · Artsy (Mine), Craftsy (Mine)

Hello all! Happy Sunday & Happy Monday, too.

The market on Thursday + Friday was very fun, and overall  a success for me and the Bandit. She already blogged about the blustery winds and the "sausage-y smell" that invaded every article of anything that was even remotely near the little market. These "fire pits" that they had going did little more than drown us in a nice "smokey aroma"...and it was so flippin' cold. Thursday was actually warmer than Friday (in the high '20's) but with the windchill (and it was VERY windy...paperweights were a must!) it was almost unbearable. Thankfully, I did get to meet some super sweet peas, including the incredibly sweet Teresa (aka MaggieGraceCreates), who has also blogged about the sale, and said some of the kindest things about me over at her blog. (Thank you, Teresa, for being so kind and warm. And thank you again for the incredible fabric...it is so beautiful!)

Here are my not-so-hot photos of our eensy tables, just before my camera died:
(Sara's things are on the Right table, except for my print-box)

I know it all looks very helter-skelter, but it was SO windy! And under the twinkling Christmas lights, and the cloak of the night, it all looked very sweet. And is just so fun to see people enjoy your work in person...I was especially pleased with how taken everyone seemed to be with the paper dolls, which I sold quite a few of. It just makes me happy that people still appreciate things like paper dolls.
Another photo I managed to eek out just as the camera battery bit the dust:

It is me, (doing something very silly with my mouth), and my Manech (real name: Mr. Josiah). I just think he deserves a bit of a shout-out because the man sat with us for 5 hours in the unbelievable cold and wind  and sausage-y smokiness of Thursday night and didn't complain once. And he didn't even have the lining in his jacket! And he had to work (in a city 3 hours away) at 9 a.m. the next morning. Medal? Award of some kind? Yes, I think so.

In the flurry of activity and the insane busy-streak that the last week was, I did do a wee bit of painting...more on the wood plaques. I keep making things that I'm not satisfied with on the wood, so maybe I need to retreat to my comfy canvases again. These little hedgehogs are super sweet, though, so they're about to hop over to the shop :
Scan0003
They are both very petite...the greeny is about 3"x5", and the blue one about 5"x7". Perfect little mini-paintings! There is also one lone pearhead girl pendant that didn't get snapped up at the market, so she's going to be up as well.

And did everyone hear Hillary's news? Ohhhh another Wee Wonderful on the way. I have a real-life friend who is also due in June, and I am....so jealous. I know that is crazy talk, but I can't help it. And all the little puppins that were at the market with their wintery duds on...it just kills me. I certainly shouldn't have a little right now.
Whew!
Enough about babies. I hope you are suitably caught up...otherwise, I will be forced to start blogging about the likes of chips, like my darling Ashley.  And my chips wouldn't even be that swanky.
A nice start to a nice week, all around. Are you with me? Say yes.

You're too funny! It sounds like your past couple of days were far more exciting than chips...and filled with a lot more cuteness :)

cute, cute, cute - your art, your manech - you!

It sounds like you had an eventful few days! Funny about the sausagey fragrance...I was out last night and one of the girls said "It smells like sausage and maple syrup here." It must have been a banger kinda weekend.

I'm lovin' the hedgehogs!

How can you not be happy?! These wood painting are adorable...so much so that one jumped into my ETSY basket! :)
Your table was adorable...looked like the Portland craft show I went to today. Little tables of goodies handcrafted by hardworking indi-crafters! It was awesome to see them selling their loves! It's fun to support on this end.

i love the kid chalk drawings on the floor by your tables. did you play hopscotch to warm up?
i wish i could have been there to chat with you and the bandit in person! it would have been worth enduring the cold. (oh emily, i am terribly nervous about experiencing the cold when i go home to ny in a couple of weeks...it's been two years since i've experienced anything colder than about 50 degrees fahrenheit.)

good morning - I am looking forward to chatting again soon too. I wore my wonderful new pendant yesterday and everywhere I went someone complimented. I hope today finds you well rested and warmed up.

You are welcome for the fabrics.

Have a beautiful day.

You're so talented, I just want to hop around and dance each time you post something new. Those paper dolls . . . oh, they get me right in the heart. I fear the felt dolls I am currently working on pale in comparison - I really have to struggle at being creative, but I'm trying my best.

Cheers to you and your wonderfullness!

I love your work!

Love your tablecloth! So colorful and happy-looking. Also, I like the letters that you have hanging from the tablecloth that say "The Black Apple" - definitely completes the look of the whole thing. So fun!

I found you and etsy by accident saw the curious birdplane print. It made my heart skip a beat and my 6 year old daughter declared that it was the most beautiful picture ever! pretty please say there will be more? As i tried to buy the last one, etsy would not let me log in. Still no luck....and worse- NO BIRDPLANE!
