Peppermint Stripes

Just a little smattering of some pre-Christmas happy things. I, like the little chicken Amy, didn't get any of the Tord garland from Target, but I did get these lovely little peppermint lollies. I'm trying not to be too sad that I won't have any of the pretty white garland!
And that cover for the holiday Magic Cabin catalogue?! Good grief, it's one of the most beautiful Christmasy images I've ever seen. That catalogue has been enchanting me since I was a little, but when I saw it sitting on the kitchen counter at my Mom's, I fell under its spell again.

Also above are the cut-out felted stockings for the aforementioned stocking garland, ready to be stitched and be-pompom'd, and stacks of the pretty cards ready to go off to their homes. Today I've got orders to finish packing, a trip to the P.O. (have I TOLD you yet what an amazing difference there is between my former NY P.O. and the one here?! Let's just say it's making a big difference in the quality of my working life). Then I'm bound and determined to get the studio up and running and in a pleasing, Emily-inspiring way. The cherry red that Jenny and I painted it on Friday night is actually a bit of a tomato, as it is layered over the old 70's orange that was here when I moved in. Got to get my inspiration wall up and all my little doo-dads and useful things out and usable. Then and only then do I get to start seriously making things again...

Oh! And I have a little plan for my living room. There is a great deal of empty wall space...and...well.. lI'll just say that I keep harkening back to Amy's wall-prettiness post from a month or two ago. Maybe tonight's project? Maybe so.

I've enjoyed reading your blog for a while now. Today was a particularly ropey day but I was really uplifted to see you'd made a new post. It's funny that just a few images and some words can cheer me up, but it did, so thank you.

Mmmmm...it's shaping up to be a red and white Christmas! I was just at Target today picking up my Tord garland (I live in a small sleepy town...no one here has a clue...lucky me...I got a deer AND a rabbit garland...left the 2 bird ones there though...they have ALL his stuff) and also saw some wonderful red and white stripe candy cane bows I may have to run back and get too!

That wall decal/stencil is just stunning, do it do it do it!!!! Mexican Picados are a really good alternative to the Tord garland for all the disappointed lovely ladies x

I don't say good grief myself, but I love when others say it. It makes me laugh. I'm just saying.

Ah, it must be so nice to be back in your hometown, with family and friends! You seem happy. You'e always a ray of sunshine for everyone who reads this blog, me thinks :)

I'm feeling terribly homesick today. Sniff.

I noticed the garland at Target yesterday. Can I pick you up some and ship it your way? Let me know.

I have an extra Tord garland that needs a loving home. E-mail me your address and it will be on its way.

We moved to CA from Brooklyn last spring, and I so know what you mean about the difference in post offices! I actually LIKE going to the post office now, whereas before it would literally ruin my day to have to visit my local one in Brooklyn!
