Limey

October 04, 2006 · Craftsy (Mine)

BlogOkay, so my title is a bit of a misnomer...I know that "Limey" is really just slang for a British person (as in "Clive Owen has got to be the hottest tamale of all limeys that ever lived"...ahem).
This is actually just a diagram of the last 24 hours of my life. I had big plans (the 3rd P.O. trip in 3 days, making 2 new dolls that I've sketched up) but then I went to bed & woke up with a bit of a gross cold. Which has rendered me relatively useless. Instead of dolls, all I seemed to be able to handle sewing last night was:
Exhibit 1, new potholders stitched out of 2 of the lovely fabrics from yesterday's post, stitched up with a hefty layer of thick towel sandwiched inside. Apparently my braini could only handle cutting out rectangles.
and today I am wearing Exhibit 2, with jeans, which is something that almost never happens (tee + jeans + sneakers). I embellished it a long time ago with the giant vintage button and strip of linen, recently added the little birdie patch (a freebie from a recent Etsy purchase!) and voila...now I want to wear it all the time. Exhibit 3 is the only really "limey" or "lime-ish" part of this post, it is Nigella's key lime pie from "How to be a Domestic Goddess". It's the easy version. It is damn good, too! I could only find a chocolate graham cracker crust in our ridiculously bad grocery store, but it was a nice combination, really...the chocolate and lime. Exhibit 4 is just a goodbye to these three dollies, who are being shipped off tomorrow to live (all together!) with a lovely lady named Kim. I am actually pretty attached to these ladies...I really need to make a doll for myself. To keep. Really. And finally,  Exhibit 5 is the perfect, perfect centerpeice print that I found last night while poking around, looking for the quilt I'm planning for a certain beloved person's Christmas present (this person is not into the internet enough to visit the blog regularly, so I think I'm not messing up any "suprise opportunities" here!).

And, oh wow. I just got a late-breaking hilarious little image here, courtesy of Ellie the cat. As I was typing, look what she happened to bring me:

Yes, I know I should be disgruntled, because we have some rodent-company in our apartment, apparently. But it's so cute and tiny! I think I'll keep him around until Sarah gets home, and then we can release him/her together. Goodness gracious...mouses in our houses.

what a nice gift you got there from ellie! at least he/she is alive! love the painted dolls and all the stuff you make...and its very nice that the three dolls get to live together, but you totally need to make one to keep!

how awesome are you for reacting that way to a mouse in your house! when we've had mice i all of a sudden go speechless and just sit and point. you may be the coolest person ever. ever.

I *love* the tee. Must find fun patches to put on mine. Also, be grateful your mousie is still alive. I blame my bad, screamy reaction to the fact that the one's I'm brought are dead & somewhat...mangled.

Not sure how something so small can cause such fear but I see a mouse and the first thing I do is leap onto furniture. I came home one night with some friends and to my surprise in the dog bed my precious Sable did not lie but instead and enormous rodent. I thought it was a rat but was shocked when the brave friends I was with approached it only to realize it was a chipmunk! Hot got in I do not know but it left out the front door trapped between a dog bed and tupperware bowl.

My mom said she saw a mouse the other day and was on top of the bed yelling for someone to take a look. She just saw something dark run under the bed. My older brother went to look and it turned out to be a scorpion. He smashed it with the broom.

I was looking at the cover for JAMA (http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/short/296/13/1564 - sure hope you can see the image), and I thought if the little laundress would just turn around, she'd look like something you might paint.

i am really happy to see you in such good humor over your mouse situation. Look how long its tail is, ridiculous!

Love the t-shirt!
