Little Red (or blue, or brown) Riding Capelet

August 22, 2006 · Craftsy (Mine)

Hello all! I hope that Tuesday is treating you well. I've been a busy bee so far, post officing, a trip to Staples, painting...

After cleaning my room yesterday, there was a bit of a pile of what-to-do-with-them clothes. One was this plain, tired red zip-up hoodie. Just before I tossed it into the trash, I had a nice little idea:

I made these sweet little capelet, which I proudly wore around today! It's great because it's still clearly sweatshirt-ish, so its not too "costume-y". It looks adorable on...I wish I could've taken better/more pictures, but I'm reduced to the holding-the-camera-in-front-of-myself shots ( I think Hillary knows all about this)!

Then I thought, I bet that some of my lovely blog-craftistas would like to remodel some tired hoodies for either themselves, or maybe their little ones (so nice for the fall, or spring if you're one of my darling Aussies!). It's super easy, and will take about 30 minutes all told. Then you can wear it with a little jersey dress (as I did today) or a top and jeans.

Here's the funny little tutorial I whipped up:

There it is!

I also made these three little ladies earlier today:

Adios, my darlings!

I just found your blog, and am ten times happier for doing so. I love your capelet tutorial - far better illustrated and written than many I come across. I'm enjoying your overall aesthetic, too. Thanks!
